Flying chestnut Fab Fevola is attempting to win his second the season and will be looking to go .02 of a second faster than he did when comfortably winning his first heat back in February.
After what was arguably a career best last start when he ran 4th in the GR1 Lightning Stakes the son of Favelon was given a few weeks freshen up by trainer Dean Binaisse, a method he believes best suit the rising 9yo.
‘We don’t gallop him much at all between runs, he just water walks, goes to the beach and schools in preparation’ Said Binaisse from his Mornington base.
‘He’s still racing like he’s a 3yo, I haven’t seen him this happy since he arrived from QLD a few years ago. He’s simply thriving on his work and his racing’.
Fab Fevola lines up in tomorrow nights final heat of the 955m challenge, however with $100,000 up for grabs he meets a quality bunch of sprinters not out of place in a Group 2 or Group 3 event. From barrier 3 Binaisse believes Fab Fevola will prove highly competitve in the race and with an uncontested lead it won’t be any surprise to see the speedster in front on the line.
‘They’ll know they’ve had a race’ Said Binaisse
‘He’s as good as what he was going in to the Lightning and a repeat of that performance should see him go close in this’
‘Its a very tough race and early tempo will be the key to his chances, however all going to plan I am confident of a forward showing.
