Mona Jet's To Victory
Oct 14, 2016
It was a pleasing win for Dean Binaisse and the team at 888 Racing with Monajet winning the Winning Edge Presentations Maiden Plate over 1100m at Moe on Thursday.
Monajet was given a great ride by Patrick Moloney who settled the three-year-old filly fourth throughout running before rounding the home turn to reel in the hot favourite, Tolelau, and Bel’s Impact.
Monajet’s win is also further proof how effective the facilities at Dean Biniasse’s Mornington property are with the state of the art water walker and training program designed to help horses with feet and leg issues.
“The owners of Monajet were told when she was a yearling that if she went to public auction she would struggle to attract a bid as her confirmation in her front wasn’t all that flash,” said Dean Binaisse.
“It was a very pleasing win for the owners as we had the sister to this filly but she had breathing issues so she had to be retired and they also had Fab Fevola who was a magnificent horse for this stable and sadly recently passed away.
“This filly ran a really nice race last start when she finished third to two very smart fillies so I thought I’d giver her a bit of a freshen up before I found her next race.
“She’s still pretty green at this stage and she has a lot of improvement left in her which is encouraging off what she did today.
“I will probably look at giving her another start at the 1100m or similar before stepping her up a bit more in trip around the 1400m or somewhere around there.”
Monajet broke her maiden at just her fourth start after she finished third at her previous start at her home track. Her first two runs were both at Moonee Valley as a two-year-old.
